TELEPHONE TERROR: WARNING ISSUED OVER AGING POLES

NEW CITY, N.Y. (Wireless Flash) -- A former telephone company employee has a warning for Americans: you're in danger of being squashed by rotting telephone poles. 51-year-old engineer Sam Morris estimates there are at least 7 million rotting poles in America that are just a faint breeze away from blowing over. Morris says the average telephone pole only has a life expectancy of 50 years before it rots away underground -- but many telephone poles in the U.S. have been up since just after WWII. It's feared telephone companies who don't do something about the rotting telephone poles, could face millions of dollars in lawsuits from people injured by the ancient poles. Morris is doing his own part to stop the telephone terror: he's been hired to replace every rotten pole in the state of New York.
