DOG RUNNING FOR MAYOR OF SAN FRANCISCO

DOG RUNNING FOR MAYOR OF SAN FRANCISCO

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) -- "Money" magazine may have named San Francisco the "Best City in America" -- but the mayor's office is going to the dogs. It seems the latest candidate for San Francisco's upcoming mayoral election is a 7-year-old labrador retriever named "Basil." According to Dan Zeitman, the dog's campaign manager, Basil is running for office because he believes voters would rather have a real dog in city hall than any of the current candidates - - which include incumbent Willie Brown and former mayor Frank Jordan. Zeitman claims he recently took a straw poll of San Franciscans and couldn't find one person who disapproved of the idea of a dog running for mayor. Basil promises if he's elected mayor of San Francisco he'll clean up city parks, reduce traffic and provide a "beef-basted bonus" for everyone.
