POKEMON CARDS CALLED CHILDREN'S LOTTERY

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Is Pokemon more of a lottery game than a child's game? It is according to a Los Angeles attorney who has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer of Pokemon trading cards. Lawyer Kevin Roddy claims the Pokemon card game is a lottery because children buy the trading cards in the hopes of finding the few rare cards of value randomly inserted in the packs. But the Pokemon lawsuit is being poked fun at by adult fans of the game, including "Beckett Pokemon Collector" magazine editor Doug Kale. Kale claims its "outrageous" to call Pokemon a lottery and says the popular collectible cards are no different than baseball cards or Cracker Jack toys. Meanwhile, an attorney for Nintendo, which makes the cards, says the lawsuit is baseless and similar suits claiming trading cards are lotteries haven't been successful.
