NOT A DROP OF BEER TO BE SIPPED AT UPCOMING OKTOBERFEST

CULLMAN, Ala. (Wireless Flash) -- Oktoberfest celebrations usually come with plenty of beer -- except in Cullman, Alabama. On October 2, the town will hold a "dry" Oktoberfest, where the only beer tapped will be a keg of root beer. Town historian Elaine Fuller says there's never been a drop of beer at the festival in its 18 year history because Cullman has banned alcohol since the days of Prohibition. Thirsty Cullman residents can't even sip so-called "non alcoholic" brews because they still contain a tiny, tiny amount of alcohol and the law prohibits it. But all this Oktoberfest abstinence sounds like blasphemy to beer expert Bob Klein, who says this is the first time he's ever heard of a "dry" Oktoberfest celebration. As far as beer drinkers are concerned, he claims the Cullman event couldn't be considered an Oktoberfest because there's no beer.
