ONE-HIT WONDERS DESERVE HALL OF FAME

DENVER (Wireless Flash) -- The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is fine for Elvis Presley but a rock historian in Denver thinks one-hit wonders also deserve enshrinement. This Saturday (Sept. 25) has been declared "National One-Hit Wonder Day," but organizer Steve Rosen believes One-Hit Wonders deserve more than just a day -- they deserve a Hall of Fame of their own. Rosen claims one hit wonders are an important part of American mythology since they prove anyone can make it big for at least a minute if they have the right song. Some of the groups he would nominate for the One-Hit Wonder Hall Of Fame include the Standells, who did the mid-60s hit "Dirty Water," Claudine Clark of "Party Lights" fame or even Looking Glass, the band that did "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)." However, Rosen says admission to the One-Hit Wonder Hall Of Fame should be very strict to prevent novelty hits like Rick Dees' "Disco Duck" or "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas from making the cut.
