CHRIS ROCK TO PLAY TALKING BLOOD CELL

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash) -- Now here's one for the "What Was Hollywood Thinking?" file: Chris Rock has just been cast as a talking blood cell. Rock will star in "Osmosis Jones," an animated flick in which the comic will play a heroic blood cell that fights off a virus with help from his sidekick -- a medicine tablet voiced by "Frasier's" David Hyde Pierce. If you think that's odd, get a load of some of the other oddball productions underway in Hollywood according to "Boxoffice" magazine... -- In "The Crew," Burt Reynolds will play a retired gangster who tries to keep Yuppies from moving into his neighborhood by scaring them with a corpse "a la" the Andrew McCarthy classic, "Weekend At Bernie's." -- A proposed film called "Bruiser" will follow the adventures of a man who wakes up one morning and finds his face has disappeared. -- And get this one: After 16 years, Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas will re-unite as beer-swilling brothers "Bob and Doug MacKenzie" in "Home Brew," a follow-up to their 1983 flick, "Strange Brew."
