FINANCIAL PROBLEMS HARD ON THE TEETH

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Wireless Flash) -- Money problems aren't just hard on your wallet, they can be murder on your teeth. That's according to University of Michigan dental professor Lisa Tedesco, who says people who can't cope with financial trouble are more likely to lose teeth than those who find solutions for their money woes. Tedesco says her research shows folks who try to avoid their money troubles gnash and grind their teeth more often, which can lead to periodontal disease and lost teeth. Money worriers also tend to have a high amount of thick saliva that can increase the odds of developing mouth lesions. On the other hand, Tedesco says folks who cope with their financial strain by coming up with practical solutions are much less likely to develop dental diseases.
