MEXICO: A GUT-WRENCHING COUNTRY FOR TOURISTS

LONDON, England (Wireless Flash) -- Mexican tourist officials are busting a gut over a new British report which claims Mexico is the No. 1 spot for tourist attacks of diarrhea. The survey by "Holiday Which?" magazine reveals 58 percent of tourists who visit Mexico wind up getting a bad case of the runs. In the second place is the Dominican Republic, where 48 percent of tourists get tummy trouble, while the United States actually sickens 11 percent of tourists visiting from abroad. Some countries aren't so gut-wrenching: Only 6 percent of tourists to Croatia or Belgium wind up with a bad case of the trots. Meanwhile, Mexican tourism officials say their country's high rating in the diarrhea survey is undeserved. A spokesperson says many cases of the trots can be triggered by overindulgence, stress or a change in altitude.
