COMPANY CREATES FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME DOLL

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Wireless Flash) -- A doll that wets itself or burps is nothing new but now there's a doll designed to look like a victim of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). A company called Baby Think It Over -- which makes lifelike dolls designed to teach teenagers the harsh truth about having babies -- has just introduced a doll that shows what a baby looks like when its mother boozes it up during the pregnancy. The "FAS Manikin" is smaller than other dolls and has hand abnormalities and facial deformities such as drooping eyelids and a thin upper lip that make the doll's mouth resemble "Mad" magazine cover boy Alfred E. Neuman. The doll is being introduced today, which happens to be International Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Awareness Day.
