CONTESTANTS FIND COLLARD GREEN EATING HARD TO SWALLOW

AYDEN, N.C. (Wireless Flash) -- The folks in Ayden, North Carolina, may be a little green this weekend -- but it won't be from envy. The town will be holding its 25th Annual Collard Green Eating Contest this Saturday -- an event that some contestants may find hard to swallow. A spokesperson admits it's common for collard gobblers to vomit during the contest, but such activity results in immediate disqualification. The remaining contestants who don't barf are judged by how many pounds of collards they can eat in 30 minutes. So far, the world's record is 7.5 pounds, which was set a few years ago. For those not in the know, collard greens are tough greens boiled for hours in pork fat-flavored water. They also have tons of fiber which is why organizers have learned the hard way to keep several porta-potties backstage.
