MYTH DEBUNKED: FURBY NOT MADE FROM DOG FUR

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) -- Have you heard that rumor that Furbys are made out of real cat and dog fur? Well, there's not an ounce of truth to it, but that hasn't stopped it from spreading like wildfire, according to urban legend debunker Richard Roeper of the "Chicago Sun-Times." Roeper is the author of the upcoming book, "Urban Legends: The Truth Behind All Those Deliciously Entertaining Myths That Are Absolutely, Positively 100% Not True" (Career Press). Here's what else he uncovered... -- Walt Disney did not name Mickey Mouse after Mickey Rooney. That rumor was started by Rooney years ago. -- There's no truth to the myth that Marisa Tomei only won an Oscar for "My Cousin Vinny" because Jack Palance read her name by accident at the Academy Awards. -- And, finally, it's completely false that Alanis Morissette's angry anthem "You Oughta Know" was written about former boyfriend Dave Coulier -- aka "Joey " from "Full House."
