`UNDERWEAR AIRBAG' PROMISES TO EASE FALLS

THETFORD, Vt. (Wireless Flash) -- An airbag built into your underwear is the latest gadget to help prevent injuries. The underwear airbag is the creation of 75-year-old inventor Carl Clark who also developed the very first airbags for Lockheed Martin in the 1960s. Clark says his new "hip airbag" is designed to prevent senior citizens from breaking their hips during a fall. The underwear airbag has a sensor that automatically inflates two cushions around the hips as soon as a person starts to fall. Although Clark has a prototype of his airbag, he says it's been tough trying to convince investors to fund commercial production of the device. He says even though he's 75, he will continue to try to get his hip airbag on the market because it could prevent thousands of injuries.
