CHAMPAGNE SHORTAGE SPURS `DO IT YOURSELF' BUBBLY

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- The expected shortage of champagne around the millennium eve is driving some wine lovers into the do-it-yourself business. According to Rosemary Zraly -- the self-proclaimed "Champagne Lady" -- some folks are so worried they won't be able to buy any bubbly on December 31 that they're resorting to $50 make-your-own champagne kits. However, the homemade champagne trend is causing at least one major winery to pop a cork. Gary Heck of Korbel Champagne Cellars claims champagne- making is too dangerous for do-it-yourselfers and should only be attempted by professionals. Heck warns that making champagne in containers that can't withstand the pressure of the carbonation could result in explosive "grenades of glass" that could injury people. Although most champagne kits do come with special bottles, The Champagne Lady says it's so time-consuming and unpredictable that you're better off investing in several bottles of good champagne right now.
