FORMER SUPREMES WIN LAWSUIT AGAINST MEMBER

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Former Supremes singer Mary Wilson has just received a supreme blow to her career: a judge has ruled she has no right to prevent previous members of the Supremes from performing in the U.S. Back in 1996, Wilson filed a suit against The Former Ladies Of the Supremes, which includes Scherrie Payne and Lynda Laurence -- who joined the Supremes after Wilson and Diana Ross split in the '70s. However, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Wilson can't block the "Former Ladies" from using the Supremes name in the U.S. -- especially because Payne and Laurence have been using the name for at least 12 years internationally. A spokeswoman from the Former Ladies Of The Supremes says the group is pleased with the decision and will now focus their efforts on becoming a popular club act in the U.S.
