PEARL JAM HIT PUTS J. FRANK WILSON BACK IN SPOTLIGHT

LUFKIN, Tex. (Wireless Flash) - Pearl Jam is currently riding the charts with its remake of J. Frank Wilson's 1964 hit, "Last Kiss," -- but now a lot of people are wondering where, oh, where can Wilson be. Unfortunately, he died from a heart attack in 1991 at the age 49, but according to his mother, 74-year-old Marjorie Mayer of Lufkin, Texas, her son would be thrilled to know that Pearl Jam is donating profits from the song to benefit charities in Kosovo. However, Mrs. Mayer says the song was the start of a downward spiral for her son and right after "Last Kiss" peaked at No. 2, Wilson and his band were in a car crash that killed his manager. To make matters worse, Wilson's wife left him soon after, and he started suffering from seizures caused by a childhood head injury. Although Wilson repeatedly tried to make a comeback, his mother says it never happened and he lived out his last years working as an orderly in a retirement home.
