30TH ANNIVERSARY OF `EASY RIDER'

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (Wireless Flash) -- Next Monday (July 12) would be a good time to get your motor running and head out on the highway: it's the 30th anniversary of the classic biker movie "Easy Rider." The Peter Fonda/Dennis Hopper flick opened in theaters on July 12, 1969, spawning a whole new generation of hippie motorcyclists who hit the road on their Harley Davidsons -- but some motorcycle enthusiasts aren't so happy with the flick. According to the American Motorcyclist Association, some bikers dislike "Easy Rider" because it gives the impression bikers are outlaw renegades who fight against law and order. The movie's popularity also spawned several cheap biker flicks which depicted violent gangs of motorcyclists engaging in all sorts of mayhem. A spokesperson for the organization says that while most bikers think "Easy Rider" is a decent movie, the all-time favorite motorcycle flick is the 1971 documentary "On Any Sunday" which is more realistic than any other cycle flick.
