NIKE SLOGAN MORE FAMILIAR THAN DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Wireless Flash) -- Americans are making a declaration of their own stupidity if a new Fourth of July survey is to be believed. According to a poll conducted by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, only 47 percent of Americans are aware that the phrase "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is found in the Declaration of Independence. By comparison, 79 percent know Nike's slogan is "Just do it." -- 90 percent know Bill Gates invented Windows, but only 53 percent know Alexander Hamilton was one of the founding fathers. -- 55 percent are aware "Star Wars's" Obi-Wan Kenobi said "May the force be with you," but only 9 percent know George Washington was a Revolutionary War general. -- But there is hope: 63 percent know that Samuel Adams was a founding father, while only 50 percent know his name inspired a microbrew.
