PHILADELPHIANS TO ATTEMPT MILE-LONG SANDWICH

PHILADELPHIA (Wireless Flash) -- A hoagie of historic proportions is about to be built in Philadelphia in honor of a regional holiday known as "Hoagie Day." Tomorrow (July 29), the City of Brotherly Love will attempt to assemble a record-breaking 6,600-foot-long sandwich that will stretch out for 1.25 miles and weigh almost 4 tons. The recipe will include 733 pounds of ham, 688 pounds of salami, 1000 pounds of tomatoes, 733 pounds of cheese, 511 pounds of sliced onions, 688 pounds of lettuce, 13 pounds of oregano and 26 gallons of oil. The mammoth sandwich is being built to beat the previous record holder -- a 6,500-foot-long sandwich made last year.
