MAGAZINE LOOKING FOR BEST ROADKILL SNAPSHOTS

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Animal lovers are in an uproar over a magazine contest which is encouraging readers to submit photographs of "roadkill." The contest is the brainchild of magazine publisher James Popsmear, who is also the editor of "Popsmear" magazine, an alternative monthly publication. Popsmear claims roadkill can be very photogenic -- especially larger animals like moose or deer. He says the winner of the contest will be the photo with the most blood and distinguishable body parts. The contest ends September 10, but already the fur is flying among animal rights activists. Camilla Fox of the Animal Protection Institute calls the roadkill contest, "A mockery of a very serious problem." Fox claims more than 350 million animals are run over each year in America.
