ARTIST CASTS EARRINGS USING SON'S NIPPLES

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (Wireless Flash) -- It's been said art is in the eye of the beholder, but for a South African conceptual artist it's in her son's nipples. 31-year-old artist Veronique Malherbe is preparing to exhibit a pair of 18 karat gold earrings which she cast from her 2-year-old's nipples. The earrings will go on display July 5 at a Cape Town art gallery, where she hopes to get $3000 for the pair. Although the earrings are unusual, they're not Malherbe's strangest art works -- her last exposition featured candy chocolate hand grenades made out of her own breast milk. The artist says her work emphasizes body parts and bodily fluids because -- in her words -- "I'm a single mother and these are the only art supplies I can afford."
