COLIN POWELL: `SAVING PRIVATE RYAN' WAS INACCURATE' (EMBARGOED UNTIL 6 P.M., EDT, THURSDAY, JUNE 10)

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Although "Saving Private Ryan" has been praised as the most accurate war movie of all time, General Colin Powell has a problem with the film's depiction of D-Day. "Parade" magazine is reporting that Powell recently met "Private Ryan" star Tom Hanks and started griping about some of the film's minor details. Hanks says Powell couldn't understand why the film left out the demolition of a certain crucial bridge in the battle. The actor told Powell point blank: "It isn't a documentary! It's a movie!" However, Hanks agrees there are some scenes in "Private Ryan" that are a bit hard to swallow, such as the scene where the troops are holed up in a church talking to each other. In Hanks words: "I've got news for you. In a real war, we'd all be asleep."
