MANGOES USED TO CURE DIARRHEA, WORMS

TUBAC, Ariz. (Wireless Flash) -- Mangoes are becoming more popular in America these days thanks to trendy restaurants using them in frou-frou recipes -- but did you know the fruit is used for more than just eating in other countries? According to the mango importers at Ciruli Brothers in Arizona, there are several Mexican folk remedies revolving around the orange-colored fruit. For starters, mango seed is used to rid the body of parasites and worms, and mango leaves are boiled into a tea to cure chronic diarrhea. Sap from the mango tree has been used to treat syphillis and combat gynecological problems, while the leaves supposedly relieve the sting of insect bites. And, finally, just eating the flesh of the fruit is believed to lower cholesterol.
