OLD BULLETS TURNED INTO BIRD FEEDERS

GUALALA, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Old army bullets are going to the birds -- literally. A California company is making bird feeders and other trinkets using old artillery shells scavenged from the U.S. military. The Flora and Fauna company melts down the brass shells and then casts the former weapons of war into door knockers, sundials and garden faucet handles. Owner Walter Ritter says the best part of using the old artillery shells is that it costs less than virgin metal -- but he also likes the fact that he's keeping millions of bullet shells from clogging up landfills.
