REBIRTH OF POLYESTER JOGGING SUITS CALLED DANGEROUS

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Those vintage polyester jogging suits so popular with retro fashion plates could bring you a stroke of bad luck -- literally. Fitness expert Greta Blackburn claims folks who wear workout clothes made of polyester, plastic or vinyl are at risk of getting heat stroke because the suits promote dehydration. Blackburn -- who edits "Ms. Fitness" magazine -- says jogging suits from the 1970s prevent the skin from breathing and can overheat the body. The problem is compounded when trendy club hoppers drink lots of booze and start dancing in the "sauna-like suits." If you insist wearing a retro running suit, Blackburn recommends carrying along a jug of water or replace the outfit with clothes made from "more breathable fabrics" like cotton.
