ALANNAH MYLES PROUD `BLACK VELVET' IS A STRIPPER'S CLASSIC

TORONTO, Can. (Wireless Flash) -- Although most Americans associate Alannah Myles with her 1990 No. 1 hit, "Black Velvet," many more associate the song with stripping. But that doesn't bother the Canadian singer one bit. Myles says she credits the song's popularity as a strip tease number for keeping her name in the public eye for such a long time and jokes that Robert Plant probably wishes he wrote a song that was as popular with showgirls. She says she's not surprised that strippers still bump and grind to the ditty, because she took off her own clothes when she recorded it. But don't get any weird ideas. Myles says she stripped down to a bathing suit because the overheated studio had no air conditioning. Her latest release, "Best Of Alannah Myles", just hit stores.
