`MORK & MINDY' FATHER IS NOW DIXIELAND TROMBONE PLAYER

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- If Robin Williams ever wants to quit acting, he could make a living playing the blues. That's according to actor Conrad Janis, who starred with Williams as Mindy's dad on "Mork & Mindy." Janis -- who plays trombone in a Dixieland combo called The Beverly Hills Unlisted Jazz Band -- says Williams used to impress him by playing blues harp between takes on the set of "Mork & Mindy." Robin is just one of the celebrities with which Janis has had musical interaction: He says Jack Lemmon is a talented pianist, former child star Jackie Cooper is a top notch drummer and "Just Shoot Me" star George Segal is a soulful singer. But the most talented celebrity musician may be comedian Dudley Moore, who Janis says can play jazz piano with the best of them. Janis is now working on a film musical entitled "From Riches To Ragtime" in which he hopes to cast his actor friends as musicians.
