MAN HAS 8,756 CROSSES TO BEAR

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Think you've got a cross to bear? There's a man in San Jose, California, who has more than 8,000 crosses to bear. He's 76-year-old Ernie Reda and he's collected crosses and crucifixes for more than 50 years. At last count, he owns 8,756 crosses in all shapes and sizes including crosses made out of hair, rocks and straw. Reda even owns celebrity crosses that once belonged to Pope John Paul II, Robert Mitchum, Jimmy Stewart and "Brady Bunch" mom Florence Henderson. But now Reda says he has so many crosses in his garage, living room, guest house and trailer that he wants to cross paths with someone willing to take the load of crosses off his hands. Reda hopes to find a partner who can help him fulfill his life's dream: a museum dedicated entirely to crosses that would feature a 100-foot-tall crucifix with an elevator to the top. He's already asked the Vatican if they'd be interested, but a spokesperson for the Pope told him the church doesn't have the facilities or personnel to handle such a large collection of crosses.
