A CHIP OFF THE OLD REDHEAD: WILLIE NELSON'S DAUGHTER SINGS

AUSTIN, Texas (Wireless Flash) -- Singing is all in the family for country boy Willie Nelson: Now his 29-year-old daughter Paula is taking up the mic. Paula is just about to release her first album, "Coming Home," which she says sounds more like Sarah McLaclan than Shania Twain. Although Nelson jokes that the reason she's now a singer is because she was a horrible waitress, she credits her telephone answering machine for turning her into a performer. Paula says she used to be such a fan of The Judds that she would sing their songs into her answering machine's outgoing message. She got so much praise for her telephonic trilling that it convinced her she had the goods to become a professional songbird. But it's not easy being Willie's daughter: Paula admits her worst moment was when she played a country western bar and the promoter put her father's name on the marquee in bigger letters than her's -- even though he wasn't performing. Paula will be performing April 21-25 at the Avi (uh-VEE) Hotel in Laughlin, Nevada.
