MENTAL HEALTH TO MEET ROCK AT COBAIN SUICIDE TRIBUTE

EVANSTON, Ill. (Wireless Flash) -- This Thursday (Apr. 8) is the 5th anniversary of the day grunge rocker Kurt Cobain was found dead after putting a shotgun to his head. Although many fans will be remembering Kurt on Thursday, the real tribute will happen two days later when a Nirvana cover band called Lithium will perform in Evanston, Illinois, along with Cobain's cousin, Bev -- a psychiatric nurse who works with depressed teens. Lithium bassist Paul McComas says the band's mission is to teach kids about depression and suicide, which is why band members plan on sharing facts about depression in between songs. The climax of the concert will come when Bev Cobain stands up and reads a letter she wrote to Kurt after he died while the band plays the Nirvana hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Bev says she wants any depressed teens in the audience to know there's an alternative to suicide.
