KID INVENTOR CREATES LICE-ZAPPING MACHINE

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- In the near future, school kids may walk through lice-zapping machines before entering the classroom. That's just one of the ideas submitted so far to the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards, a contest for child inventors. Although there's no prototype yet for the nit-picking machine, the young inventor behind it says it would work by scanning kids' heads and painlessly zapping any lice with a laser beam. Other odd inventions from the budding Thomas Edisons include... -- The "Underage Smoke Stopper." It's a gizmo that causes cigarettes to disintegrate if the smoker has no wisdom teeth. -- The "Super Laser Mouthguard" fits over your teeth and scrubs away plaque using 20 tiny lasers. -- And, finally, one invention monitors drivers for road rage and responds to temper flare-ups with soft music, massage and aromatherapy. The winning invention will be announced next month.
