GEORGE BUSH BROCCOLI BASHING UPDATE

SALINAS, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Here's something to chew on: today (March 22) marks the 9th anniversary of the day President Bush bad-mouthed broccoli and refused to eat it anymore. Broccoli growers initially balked at Bush's blow, but these days they claim it was the best thing to happen because of the resulting publicity. A spokesman for California's broccoli growers says that since Bush made the remark in 1990, broccoli consumption has actually jumped from 3.3 pounds per person per year to 5 pounds a year. Meanwhile, President Bush's son, Texas governor George W. Bush, isn't following in his father's footsteps when it comes to broccoli. His spokesperson, Linda Edwards, admits that even though she's never seen the governor actually eat broccoli, she's sure he isn't "broccoli challenged."
